St. Mark 1.19, James and John were called to be disciples, left father and career.
St. Matt. 4.18-22, James and John the sons of Zebedee called to be disciples.
St. Matt. 20.20-29, Mother of James and John request that her sons James and John have right and left
positions in the Kingdom.
St. Luke 5.11, James and John are partners with Simon/Peter in fishing business.
St. John 17.12-26, Jesus prays for the disciples.
Thought: They really did not mean any harm in their request, they were simply unaware of God's purpose And
plan for Jesus Christ, the beloved Son, the Messiah!

vs. 27-33, the question of Jesus’ authority.

St. Matt. 3.1-10, a call to repentance preceded baptism by John.
St. Matt. 21.23-27, issue was the authority of Jesus Christ.
St. Luke 19.45-48, entrapment by implication of words.
St. Luke 20.1-8, the question about John’s baptism, was John a prophet? No answer!
Thought: The question was more about their deceptive deceit than Jesus Christ's authority. Pay attention to
words!
