Daniel 1.1-21, the education of Daniel and three of his fellow captives from Jerusalem, to be trained for service
in the court of Babylon.
vs. 9, … God was with Daniel.
vs. 17, God demonstrated his presence by granting these 4 Hebrews knowledge and skill in every
aspect of Babylonian wisdom and literature.
St. James 1.5-18,
vs. 5, God grants wisdom who seek/ask for it.
vs. 17, gifts are granted by God.
Weekly Readings:
Genesis 39.1-23, esp. 2, 21-23, The Lord was with Joseph.
Psalm 106.43-48, God made captors compassionate.
Proverbs 16.7, Causes enemies to be peaceful.
St. Matt. 2.11-18, esp. 13-15, The Lord appears to Joseph, warning of danger.

vs. 27-28, the mystery of the dream is revealed to Daniel.
vs. 46-49, a testimony, “Truly God is the God of gods”.
Acts 10.30-43, God’s presence is not limited by cultural boundaries.
